Hallow-Weenies

I spent Halloween at Star, Ben, Jame and Jenny's house in Olympia this year! I missed out on the sweet costumes last year but I'm sooo on the bandwagon this time around.
Star and Ben in their matching shirts Ben's aunt sent him.
Ohhh it's too good!
Ben made some wicked hand-cicles for the punch. If you fill up two rubber gloves with water and stick them in the freezer then remove the rubber you're left with these crazy ice hands! That's crafty that goes way above and beyond my brain skills.Hands in motion.
Star dressed up as a 12 year-old girl complete with flashing plastic jewelry and hello kitty backpack.Ben was working class complete with grease from black cocoa coated almonds I brought from Trader Joes.
Star and Ben.
Brian was all of the Beatles and Matt was The Dude.
Julian was a mouse...
Complete with cheese!
Evan was... himself but with a can of Dragon Joose. Dragon Joose, by the way, makes me die a little inside.
Jessie, Jon and Freddie came late tricked out with every piece of fluorescent colored 80's wear they could scrounge.
And then Harmony was a Crusader we assume. She made herself a SWEET beard out of spirit gum and either her own hair or her boyfriends'.

Ohhhhh Disappointingly Yucky

My pumpkins have gone to the dark side.
Damn global warming, rotting my pumpkins before Halloween even gets here!

Dear Star-

I'm thinking that we'll have to make some of these soon. And I'm also thinking that this would be a great nickname "Hannah 'ginger skellies' Claire". I really just like sticking that in the middle of names.
Sincerely,

Hannah 'Ginger Skellies' Claire

p.s. I am soooo looking forward to sleeping on your couch, fishing for pennies in its' cushions and generally making a nuisance of myself.

Pumpkin Man, Gimme Some Candy!

So, I finally broke down and bought two pumpkins yesterday. It wasn't from the patch across the street, but they were from a farm stand down the road between the rental and the new house. They are soooo local! Anyway, here's the first, larger one.
And here it is carved!
And the second, smaller one.
And here it is all carved and mustachioed!
I think that the 3 hours of fun I had with these pumpkins was totally worth the 5 dollars I paid for these. If you think about it, that's less money for more fun time than going to a movie would be these days.
The carnage! Soon I will be toasting and hopefully eating said carnage. It looks like a vegetarian's version of Saw.
The booty!

All for One and One for All!

Mustachios for the common people! Etsy, I have discovered, is a minor goldmine for mustache paraphernalia and here are some of my favorites.
Lupin: Moustache Notecard.
Nutterbutsquash: La Silver Mustache.
Le Moustache: Mustache Bandanna.
Mollycoddle Soap: Secret Agent Soapstache.
Peppersprouts: set of 5 puppy with a handlebar mustache greeting card.
GreyBrocket: Moustache Man Planter.
Lupin: Black Moustache Disguise.
Laurageorge: Mustachios.
Yabettasupadont: Amazing Mustache Necklace.

I've been feeling a little moustache for Halloween this year.... but I'm still very undecided. So many good things, so hard to choose!

I'm Talkin' 'Bout Pumpkins!

It's officially Halloween, a holiday specific to the U.S. of A. Italians don't so much celebrate it so I had to go out of my way to track down a pumpkin. We found some in San Lorenzo's indoor market and we managed to score this one for about 4 euro. These were definitely there JUST for American students, they had "Halloween" stickers with information in English and everything, but whatever, I can American-up any day I please, thank you very much!

P.S. I think it is hilarious (and yes, I mean HILARIOUS) that I, in a foreign country where Halloween isn't celebrated, still managed to find, carve and post pictures of a pumpkin before y'all in the U.S.
Suckas!

My little friend... still intact but not for long.
Oh no! It's brain surgery!
I'm in your brains! Scoopin' 'em out! With ma hands....
AAaaaahhhhhh pumpkin BRAINS!
And/or Pumpkin babies... whichever is scarier/more in the Halloween spirit.

He's just not like he used to be... not since the... surgery.
He seems like a hollow shell of his once vibrant personality. It's a sad day.
Until...

I carve a happy face on him! Now he's all better.

Now he's all better AND on fire!
And that is my Italian/Halloween pumpkin... carved by alternating between bread and butter knives.
Yep, I'm pretty much a badass...
