Maybe... oh, four years ago, maybe more, someone gave me this video clip called "Sad Song." No more, no less. Every once in a while I stumble on the file, tucked away somewhere in the depths of my rusty trusty computer, and begin the quest to figure out who created this masterpiece. Four years later and I hear Dad listening to something on his computer. "Who is that?" I ask, innocently curious. "Oh, it's that guy who does the Sad Song," he answers, idly. Now, I hadn't even thought about that song in a good while but I instantly knew what he was talking about. He knew who did that song the. entire. time. I never even thought to ask.
Anyway, it turns out that his name isFredo Viola and that clip is utterly, totally, brain-meltingly-easy to find on youtube.
This video was made with, I think, a cell phone camera which is why it's cut up into such short, even lengths. I love his voice and experiments with sound (Ben, I thought of you when I listened to some of his other stuff, and this one too). He has some more amazing work here, and I really recommending perusing it. Unfortunately I don't have the latest version of anything so everything at that last site is a bit bunged for me.
And just about any Bjork video EVER made. Those are gorgeous. Unfortunately, our Internet connection has a limit on the amount we can use, so random youtube browsing or extended anything is off limits. You'll have to find those yourself. However, the ones here today are some that I've seen before and loved, brought to you this time by Smashing Magazine's 60 Beautiful Music Videos
Two 80's music videos where the real lyrics have been replaced with a description of what's actually happening in the video. The singing is pretty spot on. Sweetness.
"Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears
"Take on Me" by A-ha (I actually love this song...sigh.)
