Maybe... oh, four years ago, maybe more, someone gave me this video clip called "Sad Song." No more, no less. Every once in a while I stumble on the file, tucked away somewhere in the depths of my rusty trusty computer, and begin the quest to figure out who created this masterpiece. Four years later and I hear Dad listening to something on his computer. "Who is that?" I ask, innocently curious. "Oh, it's that guy who does the Sad Song," he answers, idly. Now, I hadn't even thought about that song in a good while but I instantly knew what he was talking about. He knew who did that song the. entire. time. I never even thought to ask.
Anyway, it turns out that his name is Fredo Viola and that clip is utterly, totally, brain-meltingly-easy to find on youtube.
This video was made with, I think, a cell phone camera which is why it's cut up into such short, even lengths. I love his voice and experiments with sound (Ben, I thought of you when I listened to some of his other stuff, and this one too). He has some more amazing work here, and I really recommending perusing it. Unfortunately I don't have the latest version of anything so everything at that last site is a bit bunged for me.
