Cinque Terre

(This is a plant. It was cool. That's all you need to know.)

For Friday, Saturday and Sunday we went to Cinque Terre. It's located on the East coast of Italy, about three hours by train (if you manage to get on the right trains.... something that is extremely difficult, but more on that later) from Florence and consists of five towns connected by a hiking trail. It's about 7 miles from the first to the last town that takes between 4-5 hours to complete if you're a badass, which we were. We left on Friday morning and changed trains an hour away at Pisa. From Pisa we bought tickets to Genova and expected to stop at one of the five towns. Wrong. We'd caught an intercity train that only stops in the larger cities, so we blew right past it. Once in Genova we get on another train that we thought was going back towards Cinque Terra. Wrong again. We wound up about an hour further northwest in a teeny tiny town because the conductor figured out that we were on the wrong train and had us get off to wait for the next one back to Genova. We hop on the next one and (of course) I forgot and/or didn't think I needed another ticket to get back to where we started. Double wrong. So we get off the train, already frustrated a bit only to get fined 50 euro for not having a valid ticket. Sigh... so then we get onto the right train which took us to I think one of the towns... in any case it was about nine additional hours of train riding than I signed up for.

A bit of trail between Riomaggiore and Manarola.

Vernazza.
My new dream house.... totally perfect. Who needs Corbett when you could have a house by the Sea in Italy?
Sunset.... obviously.
Riomaggiore.

ROCKS!

The view between Corniglia and Vernazza.
Vernazza!
Dharyll, bein' all nature-ie...
Vernazza
Still more Vernazza.

Montorosso.
A bit of the ocean sneaking under the trail... very beautimous.
More shadow people puppets.

The water.
Aaanndddd more water.
Random man enjoying the beach.

Dharyll in deep thought. Or whatever.
Some Angels watching over a graveyard in Montorosso. The graveyard was perched ontop of a hill outside of town. All of the marble tombs had pictures of their occupants which is something you don't see at home, but really touches you in a soft place. There were a couple with babies (twins that were a day old) that looked so tiny in their pictures.
