Just a Taste

This is a small taste of the San Lorenzo market. It's an outdoor market (the largest in Florence... I think) that stretches down multiple streets. It would take a full day to see everything and really experience it, and then another day after that because it's always changing!

San Lorenzo church peaking over the tops of the stalls.
The entrance from our direction. The guys in front are all over Florence, trying to sell knock-off Gucci things and other illegal merchandise. Whenever the police roll by they quickly pack everything up (about 10 seconds tops) and bolt down the nearest side street. The police never seem very interested in chasing them and content themselves with just coasting through occassionally. I don't think they can legally do anything unless they watch one of these guys make a sale. There are probably a plethora of entries in Italian law regarding the legality of this whole situation, but like most Italian laws it's pretty much ignored until something major happens.

Do these plates look familiar?
I couldn't believe it when I spotted them in a store window on the way home... I travel all this way only to find the same plates I grew up with sitting in an Italian china shop.
Craziness.
